Landscape Master Plan for the Shelter Rock Campus
Project Location: Manhasset, NY
Client: Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Shelter Rock Campus, sought to develop a Landscape Master Plan to manage their grounds as a sustainable landscape, and reduce maintenance costs while providing improved habitat and educational opportunities for the Congregation and surrounding community. NPV developed a creative and implementable Master Plan and landscape management strategy for the entire campus. The Plan facilitates sustainable practices on site, optimizes use of the historic Veatch house, protects the natural resources of the site, improves habitat, protects the large woodland on campus and provides more opportunities for the use of the campus by the Congregation. NPV inventoried the existing conditions, developed 12 unique opportunity areas, developed those opportunities into management plans, and assisted with initial installation of several projects for construction. Ongoing efforts will lead to continued implementation of this strategic plan for sustainable use of the campus.
