Nelson Pope Voorhis Long Island and Hudson Valley teams are seeking mid to senior level planners with 4 to 7 years of experience to grow with our expanding company.
NPV provides planning, environmental, economic development, regulatory and permitting support services to our municipal and private clients. Roles/Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage planning, zoning, environmental and economic reports, studies and plans.
- Participate in community outreach and public engagement events and prepare presentations.
- Conduct and manage development application and SEQRA reviews (site and subdivision plans, special use permits), prepare planning reports/memos and attend evening municipal board meetings.
- Prepare SEQRA documents, including EISs for public and private clients.
- Provide oversight and mentorship to junior level staff.
Skill Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge and experience in the principles, practices & techniques of environmental and land use planning, and a working knowledge of New York State land use and environmental regulations. Candidate may have proficiency in related fields including urban design, ecology, hydrology, geology, geography, or similar field.
- Excellent writing and public speaking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and team skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines and budgets.
- Attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently.
- Familiarity with ESRI GIS and/or Adobe products.
- AICP Certification is preferred.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this position is generally $65,000-$95,000, and compensation is commensurate with educational, professional, and relevant experience.
