Cenacle Wetlands and Endangered Species

Project Location: Ronkonkoma, New York
Client: Hoffman PDC Inc

NPV in coordination with Nelson + Pope (architecture and engineering) prepared and processed all plans and specifications for this LEED certified project on 45 acres, with environmentally sensitive land containing a pond, NY State designated wetlands and tiger salamander habitat.  NPV was involved in various stages of the planning process, including wetlands delineation and freshwater wetlands permitting for various phases of the project, rehabilitation plans for the freshwater wetland pond buffer, as well as preparing a mitigation strategy and coordination with the NYSDEC to allow preservation of critical habitat for an endangered species (tiger salamander).  NPV prepared the Part I Environmental Assessment Form, as well as an Expanded Environmental Assessment Report which provided environmental analysis of key issues (including wetlands and ecology, drainage, building demolition and construction activities, historic & cultural resources and visual/community character) allowing the Town to issue a negative declaration pursuant to SEQRA.  Additionally, NPV completed the Phase I & Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and assisted the design team with sanitary remediation and wetlands restoration issues, LEED certification items and the preparation of the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan.  NPV is also assisting with dewatering during construction and environmental consulting during the demolition of the existing structure.
