On March 31, 2021, Governor Cuomo signed into law the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act (MRTA). This new law has a number of implications on local land uses and it will provide a new tax revenue stream to local governments if retail dispensaries or on-site consumption businesses are located within your municipality. The MRTA is extensively regulated by the State including areas that are normally under local land use regulations.
