This spring, four rain gardens will take root in the Village of Northport serving as a new, green solution for stormwater drainage. NPV supported this project by providing conceptual planning, pollutant removal calculations, design, and planting plans for the gardens. The NPV staff will also help with a volunteer planting day.
The native plant bioretention areas will protect Northport’s harbor and neighborhoods by filtering contaminants from rainwater runoff and mitigating flooding, all while maintaining streetside aesthetics.
