Look for an Evergreen Day!
This holiday season, conifers may get a bit more attention, however it is important to recognize the importance and beauty of all evergreen trees and shrubs.
“Evergreen” means plants that retain their color of foliage and texture year-round. Evergreens, such as trees, help the environment in ways including providing oxygen, stormwater runoff and pollutant filtration, wildlife habitation, and protecting waterways.
Under an on-call agreement with the NYC Department of Environmental Protection, NPV supports their affiliate Nelson + Pope who is providing topographical surveys and tree surveys for street median flood mitigation at various locations in New York City.
As an essential part of the scope, NPV’s certified arborist performs a series of street tree quality inventories and provides assessments of trees and stumps that may be impacted by green infrastructure construction. These assessments are incorporated into a detailed inventory which Nelson + Pope utilizes to provide recommendations regarding tree transplant or removal.
