Did you know that more than half of New York State land is forest? Out of the 30.2 million total acres of land, forests cover 18.6 million acres and are mostly privately owned*.
New York State Department of Environmental Conservation created the “25 Million Trees by 2033 Initiative” encouraging New Yorkers to plant trees and expand forests to improve the health of communities and mitigate the impacts of climate change.
